James Akabwai; A tribute to Kigezi College Butobere’s 13th Headteacher

James Akabwai presided over a very successful period (1994-1998) in the History of Siniya. I was lucky to belong to what he called his true cohort, those he started with from S1 – S4 and when the O Level results were returned, we had scoped position No. 37 in the Country rankings. This history is his and will never be erased. It is hard to forget the celebrations to mark 40 Years of Siniya’s existence which he presided over. We surely spoke English that day, I had a Fine Art demonstration to make but the rehearsals supervised by himself drained me. Speaking English was not my portion oh… Attending the activities as he handed over the school to a New Head Teacher in 1998 brought so much pain to me as a young boy. There he was, leaving us. Just like that… sob… sob… sob…
