Siniya Alumni Forum Holds 2026 AGM, Elects New Executive Committee for 2026–2028
Alumni gather at Imperial Royale Hotel as SAF begins a new leadership chapter
The Siniya Alumni Forum (SAF) held its 2026 Annual General Meeting on Saturday, 5 September 2026, at Imperial Royale Hotel, bringing together Old Boys of Kigezi College Butobere for an afternoon of accountability, engagement and leadership transition.
The AGM, which commenced at 15:00 hours, included registration of members, the Chairman’s remarks, annual activity and financial reports, a report from the school, elections, resolutions and discussions on the way forward. Elections were formally included as Item 8 on the proposed AGM agenda.
A New SAF Executive Committee for 2026–2028
The most significant business of the AGM was the transition from the 2022–2026 Executive Committee to a new leadership team that will serve for the 2026–2028 term.
The outgoing committee was led by:
- Chairman: Elvis Twenda
- Vice Chairman: Hon. Dr. Nicholas Kamara
- General Secretary: Ivan Rwendeire Warren
- Assistant General Secretary: Jesse David
- Treasurer: Dr. Eng. Martin Tumutungire
- Vice Treasurer: Dickens Tukamushaba
- Coordinator: Tusiime Boub
- Members: Nkurunziza Brian, Gatera Martin, Ndyabahika Elisha and Dr. Davis Barugahare
The AGM consequently marked the end of the four-year tenure of the outgoing team and the beginning of a new chapter for SAF.
Candidates Put Unity Ahead of Competition
A particularly notable feature of the 2026 elections was the decision by several candidates to withdraw from the contest in support of their opponents.
The candidates who withdrew were struck through on the election schedule, leaving the supported candidates to assume the respective positions without a contested ballot.
This was a significant demonstration of the spirit of alumni leadership: the objective was service to SAF rather than personal victory.
It also helped facilitate a smooth transition and avoided unnecessary competition where candidates were prepared to rally behind colleagues considered best placed to serve.
Only One Position Went to Secret Ballot
Unlike a conventional election in which every position might be subjected to a vote, the 2026 SAF election took a different route.
Only the Coordinator – Mobilisation and Publicity position was decided through a secret ballot. 🗳️
The contest was between:
- Peter Rivan Muhereza
- Eng. Hans Mwesigwa
The official election record shows that Peter Rivan Muhereza received 29 votes, while Eng. Hans Mwesigwa received 12 votes, giving Muhereza a clear victory.
The result therefore gave Peter Rivan Muhereza the mandate to coordinate SAF’s mobilisation and publicity activities for the 2026–2028 term.

Building on the Work of the Outgoing Team
The change of leadership does not represent a break with SAF’s past. Rather, it provides an opportunity for the new committee to build on the work, relationships and institutional foundation established during the 2022–2026 administration.
The AGM itself reflected the Forum’s broader responsibilities, with financial reporting, activity reporting and a report from the school included alongside the elections. The proposed agenda also placed Resolutions & Way Forward immediately after the elections, underscoring the importance of moving from leadership selection to implementation.
For the incoming committee, the mandate is therefore clear: maintain the unity of the alumni fraternity, strengthen engagement among Old Boys, support the school community and ensure that SAF continues to operate as an effective platform for alumni collaboration.
A Peaceful Transition
Perhaps the strongest message from the 2026 AGM was not simply who won a position, but how the leadership transition was achieved.
With candidates voluntarily stepping aside in support of their opponents and only one position requiring a secret ballot, the election process demonstrated a willingness to place the collective interests of the Forum above individual ambition.
That spirit will be critical as the new committee takes charge.
The 2026–2028 SAF Executive Committee now carries the responsibility of turning the goodwill surrounding the AGM into tangible results.

The Siniya Alumni Forum congratulates CP. Elly Edison Tumuramye and the entire 2026–2028 Executive Committee on their election and appointment to leadership.
The Forum also acknowledges the contribution of the 2022–2026 Executive Committee, led by Chairman Elvis Twenda, for its service during the previous term.
